• Mortice and Tenon gates

The mortice and tenon joint has been used for thousands of years in woodworking and is known for being a very strong joint. As you can see from the diagram, the mortice is a hole in the timber, and the tenon piece slots into the mortice. It is glued into the slot and doweled from the outside.

Our mortice and tenon gates have three inch planed framework and 4×2 planed bracing.

  • Braced Gates

Our braced gates do not use mortice and tenon joints or have the three inch frames. They are constructed using bracing screwed from the back, as you can see in the diagram where the ‘z’ is on the back of the gate.

Our braced gates are made with stainless steel screws and hardwood capping
